Why

After we had been making fences in Colorado for a couple of years we received some sage advice from the owner of a long established Boulder accounting firm. “Go for the quality”, he said. We’ve never looked back.

Every year we surpass our previous expectations of how well made a fence or gate can be. Always looking for a better product we have begun to emulate some of the styles and techniques developed over many decades by old companies in California and New England.

What

Most of our fences and arbors are made of wood, we also make fences in ornamental iron, vinyl, and chain link.

For our dimensional lumber (posts and rails) we look for the widest and thickest wood we can find, and also we look for the mill where the cedar comes from. British Columbia in Canada produces the best dimensionally stable rough-cut Western Red Cedar from mature trees. The color varies from red to tan to brown to white, sometimes all within the same timber.

Cedar pickets and infill also come from a variety of sources. We can on special order buy clear grade, and also tongue and groove. Our standard 4 x 4's, 2 x 4's, 1x4s and 1 x 6's are all stored in a controlled environment inside out of the sun.

By special order, kiln dried, as well as redwood, domestic hardwoods and various tropical woods are also available.

Pressure treated as well as ponderosa pine, lodge pole pine and doug fir are all from a locally owned mill. The posts and rails they sell are noticeably more uniform, they are smoother, straighter, and have less knots than is available from any other supplier.

How

Many of the methods that we have developed for the installation of our high quality fences are unique to our company alone. The fence that for most companies is a custom job, is for us standard fare. Many of our fences aren’t available from any other company for any price.

We have adapted techniques and materials more commonly associated with the making of quality furniture or fine cabinetry and adapted them to the harsh outside environment of Colorado.

We use the most advanced tools and equipment that we can find to assist us in being both quick, efficient, and accurate, including mini-tracked hole drilling machines, portable electric jack hammers, light weight cut tables, the most precise miter saws, and fine hand tools.
